Anne Wilson teamed up with brothers Dan and Reid Isbell to deliver an acoustic cover of Morgan Wallenâs âSand In My Boots.â Wilson joined the duo on their podcast, Godâs Country, which made its debut earlier this year.
Wallen released âSand In My Bootsâ on Dangerous: The Double Album in 2021. That project also included hits and fan-favorite tracks like âWasted On You,â â7 Summers,â âMore Than My Hometown,â âThis Barâ â which is also the name of the singer-songwriterâs soon-to-open bar on Lower Broadway in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee â and more. The Isbell brothers hailed Wilsonâs voice âkillerâ after their cover of the hit ballad together.
âYeah, but now I'm dodging potholes in my sunburnt Silverado/ Like a heart-broke Desperado, headed right back to my roots/ Somethin' bout the way she kissed me tells me she'd love Eastern Tennessee/ Yeah, but all I brought back with me was some sand in my bootsâ
âFor someone who started singing at 15 yrs old, [Anne Wilson] knows what sheâs doing,â Dan and Reid said as they shared a clip on Godâs Countryâs Instagram account. âAnne knows who she is and ainât nobody gonna change that. We werenât sure where the convo was going to go, but had a blast talking turkey hunting, her new album and how sheâs handled being propelled into the spotlight at such a young age after growing up dreaming to be an astronaut đ She took us to church telling us about her Jesus and canât wait for yâall to hear this episode âđŒâ
Wilson, a 22-year-old Christian singer-songwriter from Lexington, Kentucky, released her debut country album earlier this month. The Grammy-nominated artist released REBEL, a 16-track collection that features Wilson as a songwriter on every track, teaming up with some powerhouse writers in Nashville. The album also includes collaborations Lainey Wilson, Chris Tomlin and Jordan Davis. Wilson announced on Friday (April 26) that sheâs hitting the road on âThe Rebel Tourâ later this year, including her headlining show at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. See the full list of our stops below.
âIâm so excited to hit the road this fall on âThe REBEL Tour!ââ shares Anne. âWeâre going to be playing some amazing venues all across the country and it feels like a dream come true! Ever since writing and recording this new record, Iâve been waiting for the chance to take REBEL on the road. Iâll be counting down the days till show No.1. Canât wait to sing with yâall!â
Dan and Reid â who have written music for Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Scotty McCreery, Jon Pardi, Lainey Wilson and others â started their weekly podcast this year. Guests appearing on the show so far include HARDY, Dustin Lynch, Colbie Caillat and others.
âOne of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,â Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when Godâs Country launched. They hope to âbring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre â a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We canât wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.â
The iHeartPodcasts/MeatEater show is available anywhere you listen to podcasts, including in the iHeartRadio app. Select country stations will broadcast the show between 7-11:30 p.m. local time on Sunday evenings. Find God's Country here.
