A unique portrait of Willie Nelson went on display today at this week's South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas -- it was made using 352 slices of toast and a blowtorch.
The 22-by-16-slice piece of toast-art -- created by Whole Foods production director Honey Thompson to promote the chain's new online magazine, Dark Rye -- can be seen at a gallery called Haus of Hipstamatic. A Whole Foods spokesperson tells the Hollywood Reporter that the work "perfectly captures what ‘keeps Austin weird’ during this festival -- music-inspired food art."
Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Kris Kristofferson, Harry Connick Junior, Connie Britton and a number Austin musicians are featured in a new Christmas movie that screened at the South by Southwest film festival last weekend. The producers of When Angels Sing, which was shot entirely in Austin, are still looking for a distributor
